What is NH?

What are your thoughts, Class of 2008?

My first blog, ever!

Intriguing--Peter Francese's experience trying to inform town leaders about trends and having great difficulty breaking through their belief systems with hardcore evidence (e.g. "I just don't believe you). I'm in the middle of reading "Don't think of an elephant" by George Lakoff and "Made to Stick" (why some ideas survive and others die whttp://www.madetostick.com/) --- two good books that attempt to address this. Am looking forward to the documentary.

Would be interested in others' thoughts.

Overall, the "What is NH?" day was both interesting and anticlimatic. Great info and good presenters. Got all "charged up" and "no place to go" with it. The part where we split up into four groups would be a more useful exercise if we had a topical expert in each group to help answer questions and guide ideas. Otherwise, it is, as a fellow classmate said afterwards, "a group of uninformed [individuals] making speculations."

Perhaps it is up to us to determine if we -- individually or as a class -- want to select an issue and do something with it. Would be cool to see how the collective whole (each doing just a little bit) could have an impact. That said, making time is a factor. What are the other classes are doing?
